Today there will be a major game of cricket on the sub-continental country of India. This 11th 2011 world cup match will start at 09h00 GMT (14h30 local) and play off in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. India played two world cup matches in this stadium before, winning both. The first against New Zealand back in 1987, India batted first and posted a total of 252/7, then successfully defended it by restricting the Black caps to 236/8 in their 50 overs. Man of the match was the great Kapil Dev. The second was against Pakistan in 1996. Again India batted first posting a total of 287/8 in 50 overs, Pakistan was fined 1 over for a slow over rate and could only manage a total of 248/9 in their allowed 49 overs. Man of the match was Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Today however India will face a wounded English team who lost their last ODI series against the current world champs, Australia, 6-1. They also had a hard time in their opening world cup match when they narrowly escaped with victory over the not so good Dutch team. The Netherlands Batted first and dispatched the English bowlers to all parts of the oval, managing a record total of 292/6. Their highest ever against a test playing nation. England successfully chased down the heap of runs in a breath taking match, recording 296/4 with only 8 balls remaining.
ODI match records on this field:
Highest total 347/2 Australia v/s India 12 November 2003
Highest Run Chase 321/5 India successfully chased 321 in 48.5 overs against New Zealand’s 316 from 50 overs, 07 December 2010.
If I was a betting man I’d say India will crush the English today, what do you think?
What the hell is an ODI. I do not like the British for they have enslaved my ancestors into concentration camps and imported Curry into South Africa. The Curry I can forgive them, but the implementation of Concentration Camps have washed to Nazi Germany ... and and and ... So i will support India ...
ReplyDeleteWow what a game we had! Good for India pulling this one back by not loosing! After 41 overs England was sure to win. Awesome game, don't see a draw every day.
